The task was to survey all tank / sphere constructional welds by rope access, utilizing
Integrity NDT I-Scan semi-automated scanning system coupled to multi-channel
Ultrasonic computer. The I-Scan scanner was manipulated around the vessel by
rope access technicians linked to the test system by 36 metre ‘umbilical’ cable
containing intercom, probe cables, positional encoder cable, and couplant feed
tubing.
